Unravel the unreal

Was just reading MSN website for some entertainment (yes yes, amidst work apparently) and read about reality shows and documentaries. Michael Moore portraying a fake image using all truths. Haha

Well, that is possibly true. I mean, it’s so simple. Even though the news tell you all the facts, the producers decide which stories to put into the show, making you think perhaps people are getting run over by the second per day on this tiny island. Same for shows or docus, only put in the facts which you wan to support what you think or is interesting.

The real grapple is the reality shows. Frankly, why do we call them reality shows when most of us doubt they are real? One article was talking about how the ‘real world’ went from featuring youngsters with goals like careers to pursue, dreams to reach to bootie-shaking youths whose goals were to get to work on time. Truly, I feel that it’s getting harder to differentiate all those reality shows. They basically have a formula. Like, the blonde, the hunky-dory, the gay or sissy, the asian/minority, the silent/old. Whatever. You can just see this formula almost on every one of them. And what the article said is true. Nowadays, you just see the same booty-shaking model-like figures on every show. I’m kinda getting sick of them. They are so so so ‘inspiring’.

So the youths have a new concept. If you can get on a show, it means you are licking good. Your bod or face. Your IQ or the once-hot EQ is not that important. EQ just means you can weep your mascara down when the bachelor don’t give you a rose. You can weep? That’s great!

Now to talk about ambitions. I study the media. I supposedly should work in the media to pursue my dreams. If I get a job in production and earn 1 plus k per month, I’m labeled as someone who’s willing to give up money for dreams. But truly again, you sure I’m really doing what I want to do? Coiling wires all day? Sigh, even in the field there are hundreds of things you can do right…how many times or how long do you need before you really do a show you like?

What’s more, what’s being done these days are all held in the hands of big corporates whose main aim, or ONLY aim is money. You think they care that much about whatever stupid message they are sending out? Hell, the article or review does nuts. As long as people watch, who cares if there’s depth? So yeah, welcome to the REAL world, critics.
